Spotify Adds Sound Effects to Help You Survive the Summer

This summer hasn't quite been what we all expected it to be. However, while your dreams of pool parties and beach holidays may have been dashed, Spotify is here to help by digitally transporting you somewhere nicer with its new immersive experience.

Spotify has launched a new website; an experience it calls Wish You Were Here. At a time when most of us are stuck indoors, you can use the website---in conjunction with a bit of imagination---to take a vacation.

First, choose from one of this summer's biggest songs, whether it's Dua Lipa's Break My Heart or Harry Styles' Watermelon Sugar.

Next, pick your backdrop. Do you want to hear the lapping of waves at the beach? The tweeting of birds in the park? Or perhaps the joyous hubbub of a carnival?

The website will then work its magic and pair the song with the atmosphere. All you need to do is lean back, close your eyes, and be whisked away to somewhere other than your own home.

Of course, no vacation is complete without some friends to share it with. That's why you can also send a digital postcard via Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, complete with colorful artwork and evocative tagline.

The experience is available to all free and paid Spotify members at Wish You Were Here.

If you simply want to enjoy the jams of the summer, Spotify also has you covered. As detailed on For the Record, the streaming service has collected together a playlist of the most streamed songs from June 1 through to August 15, 2020.

Leading the pack with 380 million streams is ROCKSTAR by DaBaby featuring Roddy Ricch, followed by the likes of The Weeknd, SAINt JHN, and Jason Derulo.

Don't forget, Spotify has many other summer-inspired playlists for you to enjoy all year round, including "Summer Throwbacks" and "Island Anthems".

There's also the "Your Summer Rewind" playlist, which features the songs that you've played the most over summers gone by.

Spotify often makes one-off experiences like this. These sorts of fun distractions are needed now more than other.

Music has the power to bring us together across any boundary. That's why you should try Wish You Were Here and share your music with friends and family.
