Microsoft may still be fighting Apple's Project xCloud restrictions on iOS, but there's some good news for Xbox fans with an iPhone. Microsoft is releasing an Xbox app for iOS that lets you stream games from your console to your phone.
Microsoft's New Xbox App for iOS
The news arrived on Twitter via @harrisonhoffman, an employee at Microsoft. Hoffman reports that the Xbox app is now ready for iOS users to try, which seems to work similarly to the one on Android.
The new Xbox Beta app is now available for Android and iOS, keeping you connected to Xbox, wherever you are, featuring console remote play, remote game installs, chat, and more! Check it out!

While Project xCloud is still missing, there are some handy features here. You can stream games from your Xbox console to your phone, so you can play on the go even if it isn't on the cloud.
There's also the remote game installation feature. When you're out of the home and see a game you want to play in the app, you can tell your Xbox to download the game so it's ready for when you get home.
Ready to join the beta? Unfortunately, you're a little too late. After only an hour of the beta going live, eager Xbox players took up every open spot available.
However, Microsoft's determination to get Xbox on iOS is a good sign for iPhone users. After the disappointing setbacks that Microsoft has faced when dealing with Apple, this new Xbox beta app is a sign that, at the very least, Microsoft still wants to reach out to the Xbox fans that use an iPhone.
Microsoft Isn't Giving Up on iOS Yet
While this isn't the Project xCloud news that some of you are looking for, it's a good sign of things to come. If the Xbox beta app goes well, this may encourage Apple to revise its stance and allow Microsoft's game streaming service on iOS.
If Project xCloud does arrive on iOS, Microsoft already has everything ready for Xbox fans to play games on the cloud on day one. After all, the Xbox Series X controller has been confirmed to work with iOS right out of the box.
