You can now play Fortnite Battle Royale on iOS without needing to bag an invite to do so. All you need is an iPhone or iPad running iOS 11, and you’re good to go. And because Fortnite operates on a free-to-play basis it won’t cost you a penny to dive in.
At the beginning of March, Epic Games announced that Fortnite Battle Royale was coming to iOS and Android. Since then, the immensely popular game has been available on an invite-only basis on iOS. However, it’s now available to all comers, at least on iOS.
Bringing the Battle to iOS
Fortnite Battle Royale has been a smash hit on PC and consoles, so it was only a matter of time before the game made it to mobile. Still, the ease with which Epic ported the game to iOS is incredible, and Fortnite Battle Royale is oodles of fun to play.
After a successful beta period where you needed to bag an invite to play, Fortnite Battle Royale is now available to anyone and everyone on iOS. Which suggests that Epic is confident its servers can handle the influx of new players it’s about to experience.

Fortnite Battle Royale works on the iPhone SE and newer, and the iPad Mini 4 and newer. You just need iOS 11 and an active internet connection in order to play. The controls may take some getting used to, but the game itself is the same as on PC and consoles.
For the uninitiated, Fortnite Battle Royale is a battle royale-style game which pitches 100 players against each other. You need to gather equipment, build structures to protect yourself, and then be the last person left alive at the end of the round.

What About Android Users?
While this is great news for iOS users, there is still no sign of Fortnite on Android at the time of writing. For whatever reason, Epic has decided it’s best to get the game working perfectly on iOS before letting Android users join in the fun.
With Fortnite Battle Royale being free to play on mobile you may as well try it out for yourself. However, we obtained an early invite in order to inform you whether Fortnite is worth playing on mobile, so you could always give that a read instead.
